Orange dash lights are the best

Hit 140k miles on the Mini today. And the speedo fixed itself so it goes back to 0 now! I also learned that the transmission HATES being cold.

Orange back lights are the best, even thought it’s white in the M3.

There’s a guy on North American Motoring with 376,000+ on his Cooper S.

Yep Ol’ Helen. It’s kind of a unique car. It’s a Finland market car. Owner number one was in the military, bought it when he was living in Finland and brought it home. It’s got the chrono package (speedo and tach above the steering wheel, temp/boost etc in the middle) and the factory LSD. We bought it with 24k 8 years ago. My wife drives it to work now (65mi round trip) so the miles stack up pretty fast.

Yeah my transmission doesn’t like being cold either, it won’t let me downshift into second and is sometimes hard to put in gear, but only when cold.

At first I honestly thought it had puked out all its fluid. It then took 10-15mi to get to how it normally is.

I have a manual in my mini and it rattles like hell in the cold.

That’s not good. Mine doesn’t make any noises when cold, it just gets hard to shift. The interior on the other hand, between 2500 and 3000 rpm its like being in a maraca.

Wow that must have been a terrifying test of faith, I only drive 13ish miles daily so I would have been terrified the whole way if that happened to me

I had driven it ~3 miles last night. There was no puddle under it this morning so I took it out to see how long it actually takes to heat up. This is my first winter with a manual so I am still learning how they behave.

I’m ditching this car as soon as I get enough for a decent trade. Very unhappy overall.

What issues have you been having?

I love mine haven’t had any real issues other than an idler pulley I just can’t get to stop squeaking (I had it replaced and <300mi later it was squeaking again).

Chrono Packs are rare options. You will probably catch my mileage pretty quick, I’ve only put about 4,000 mi on it since I got it in the spring.

Haha I guess so. I love it though, it’s a car we’ll probably never get rid of.

Dang!! I find it cool that a Mini has lasted that long!

It was all stock until it was rebuilt at 365,000 too

Probably not helpful advice, but every car works differently, for example my trans heats up after 7 minutes and half a mile

Car only has 45k miles, I’ve blown a valve cover gasket, my ac doesn’t work, it’s a magnet for stone chips, the gearbox makes noise, it’s geared too short, the power delivery is burnout or bogg-out, and the gas mileage isn’t as good as it really should be.
